Lewis Capaldi, a singer, has revealed that he has Tourette’s syndrome, which was a relief because he feared he had “some dreadful degenerative condition.”

The Glasgow-born actor admitted on Instagram Live that “it’s not a huge problem,” but that some days are “more uncomfortable than others,” and that he had botox injections to halt the twitching.

Tourette’s syndrome is a hereditary neurological disorder characterised by uncontrollable noises and movements known as tics.

It is believed that around 300,000 persons in the UK have the illness.

Capaldi said: “I have Tourette’s. I’ve always had it, apparently. I do a shoulder twitch quite a lot. It’s a new thing.

“I haven’t really learned much about it. I’m learning. I’ve got botox on my shoulders to stop it moving.”

The 25-year-old mentioned in an interview how the disease affects him and the moment he heard of his diagnosis.

He said “When I’m stressed, I get it. Some days it’s more painful than others. It’s not a big deal. It looks a lot worse than it is.

“The worst thing about it is when I’m excited, I get it,”

“When they told me, ‘we think you have Tourette’s,’ I said, ‘you know what, it makes so much sense.'”
